I was honoured to paint these hand-stitched quilts made by a friends late mother. This composition reflects a nurturing relationship between a mother and her children- to tuck in her toddler’s toes, to cushion a child's fall, to unravel the mystery of those teenage years, to bring warmth when the world feels cold and to offer comfort in the depths of her dying days. As time passes, the physical quilts will become lovingly worn and their memories commemorated within the details of this painting.
