Capture Your Memories
Commissioning a piece of art is a unique experience that offers you the freedom to collaborate with me to create your vision. It gives you the opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind, personalized work of art that will stay with you forever.
Commission Process
Step 1. Start the Conversation
Fill out the form below so I can gather information about the size, colours and aspirations for your painting. I’m happy to create a commission based on the subjects of still life, fabric/textile, or architecture. Not entirely sure what you want? Fill out as much as you can, and let’s discuss!
Step 2. Quote
Based on the information I gather from you, I’ll send you a quote for the price. I like to offer a few options so you can choose what works best for your budget.
Step 3. Contract
When you decide to move forward with your custom painting, I’ll send you a contract that outlines the details to be agreed upon and signed.
Step 4. Investment + Payment
I request a 50% non-refundable deposit upfront and the remaining 50% upon approval and prior to shipping the completed painting. Shipping is not included and can be quoted if and when it applies. Custom painting requires collaboration and a deeper investment in time and energy. Therefore, pricing reflects the additional attention that’s required to create something unique for you, that you feel connected to and cherish.
Step 5: Artistic Process
I paint a photo-realistic style and create paintings from a photo reference. Part of my process is to enhance elements within the painting, especially colour! For the most part, I stay true to the photo reference, however, artistic license and creativity are what brings the photo to life and makes your painting truly one of a kind!
If you have special objects you would like me to paint, I typically photograph them in a variety of ways and then send you options to choose from. Alternatively, some people have a photograph ready for me to paint. Whichever photo you choose would be the one I will paint for you. The photography stage is where feedback and changes occur prior to commencing painting. Due to the nature of watercolour painting, modifications are not feasible after the paint has been applied. If you’d like to see the painting unfold through the process, I’m happy to update you with process photos.
A final image of the painting will be sent to you upon completion. Completion time is usually 3-6 months after the initial deposit is received.
