Railroad "Ties”

Watercolour, 2019

My client has quite the bowtie collection. He wore one everyday of his career in the railroad industry. Railroad ties are an everlasting pun! This was such a huge part of his identity that he wanted me to capture it to pass down to his daughter one day. Something I can relate to as my own father was a railroader. We collaborated on this composition and metaphorically (left to right) it means; I’ve had a good run, tied one on and some day, the ties will end up untied for good.

“Just took another long look at your painting and got choked up. Well Done!”
