Sowing With Sequins
Watercolour on Paper
40” x 30” unframed
Inspiration: The sequins are the seeds that were planted in a labour intensive painting process. It is about doing the work and believing it will grow into something beautiful and fruitful, whether it’s a garden, a career, or simply creating.
We often see the prestigious end result without seeing the work involved to get there. We are charmed by the shiny new thing and have a desire to have what we want, when we want it. But the reality is we need to be patient because it takes time to blossom. This painting is my reminder.
SPECIAL NOTE: This painting was featured on The Jealous Curator social media and received the Curry’s Daniel Smith Award for Realism at the CSPWC Open Water International Exhibition, 2021.

Quality: Original paintings are meant to last longer than a lifetime, so I invest in high quality materials. I use top of the line professional grade paint and paper. Beyond that, I have researched the colours of my palette to ensure that they are lightfast and permanent, making longevity a priority. Each painting is signed on the back of the painting and with an embossed signature on the front. The subtlety of the embossed watermark identifies the originality of each piece and maintains a focus on the artwork itself rather than the signature.
Frame: Framing is required. You can choose to purchase a custom frame by clicking the Add Custom Frame button. A custom frame protects the painting under anti-reflective glass which means you won’t see any distracting reflections. Also, alongside the permanent paints I use, the UV protective coating on the glass acts as double protection from fading due to exposure to sunlight. This painting would be float mounted on a white mat background with a classic white or black frame for a timeless appeal.
